Tomorrow will be an early release day. The entire district will release early for anyone who would like to attend the MCHS Girls' basketball game at Butler High School. The Lady Indians have made it to the Elite 8 and the trip is over 3 hours. This will allow for adequate travel time for all who need or want to attend. Murray County Schools will be closed tomorrow Tuesday, January 16, 2024, due to inclement weather. We will continue to monitor the forecast and share an official statement Tuesday afternoon concerning delays or closures for Wednesday, January 17th.

Due to the impending weather conditions Saturday morning, the Mobile Food Pantry scheduled for Saturday, January 13th at NMHS will be cancelled. The faculty and staff of North Murray High School regret to inform you that on October 27, 2023, a tragic event occurred resulting in the death of Lachlan Beck, one of our 11th graders. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family. Today, additional counselors and support staff were at North Murray High to work with students and staff as we all deal with this loss. A letter was sent home today with each student. We will continue to work with our North Murray community in the days to come, and we appreciate your support and compassion during this trying period. A service will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 5:00PM at the Ponders Melrose Chapel, 138 Melrose Drive, Dalton, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 - 5:00 on Wednesday. ¡Se acerca la Semana del Listón Rojo! El abuso de sustancias está aumentando entre los jóvenes en todo el país y, lamentablemente, el condado de Murray no es inmune a esta tendencia. Como parte de una campaña de prevención del abuso de sustancias en todo el sistema y en celebración de la Semana Nacional del Listón Rojo, el personal y los estudiantes de las Escuelas del Condado de Murray han creado un conjunto de lecciones en video que se presentarán en los grados 6-12 durante la próxima semana. Red Ribbon Week is Coming! Substance abuse is on the rise among young people nationwide, and unfortunately Murray County is not immune from this trend. As part of a systemwide substance abuse prevention campaign and in celebration of national Red Ribbon Week, Murray County Schools staff and students have created a set of video lessons that will be presented in grades 6-12 over the coming week. The three lessons overall explain the dangers of drug use and addiction, legal issues of illegal drug possession/use, amnesty law, and how to build positive coping skills rather than experimenting with self-medication or recreational drug abuse. The first video lesson features the documentary Dead On Arrival, an impactful documentary about the dangers of fentanyl, a particularly dangerous drug with a rapidly increasing overdose and death count nationwide. Students who have experienced the effects of drug abuse firsthand (e.g., a loved one has struggled with addiction, someone they know died from overdose) may be particularly sensitive to the stories and emotions portrayed (though drug use itself is not portrayed). We value parents/guardians as our primary partners in educating our young people and respecting their individual social/emotional needs. For that reason, we want to let you know that you may opt-out your child from the first lesson by contacting their school counselor and/or principal by Monday, October 24th For a student whose parent/guardian opts them out of this lesson, they will be discreetly directed to a designated alternative space while the documentary is shown to their group. National Honor Society applications are available and due to Mrs. Pritchett or Ms. Liner by November 9, 2023. NHS Invitations were emailed to Juniors and Seniors who qualify. Induction Ceremony will be November 14 at 5pm in the Auditorium.
